Dear Friends & Colleagues,

I am a candidate for Palo Alto City Council. First, I love Palo Alto, my late husband and I raised our family here. Our four children: Kindel, John, Christina and Alexandria attended PAUSD - Ohlone, JLS, Gunn - and private schools.  They all played on Palo Alto playing fields, swam at Rinconada, loved the parks, the Duck Pond and Foothill Nature Preserve.

As a community member, I’m in my third term as a Palo Alto Park and Recreation Commissioner. I am a non-profit CEO, business owner, home owner, renter, swimming and soccer coach, City staff, graduate of Foothill College and Stanford University and a 1960 Olympian.

I am frustrated at the lack of speed and progress in finishing good, valuable projects for our community. As a swimmer, my style (or nature) is to figure out how fast “to get to the end of the pool.” I’m running for City Council to breathe new life into our cherished community, invigorate our neighborhoods and refine how our city fosters innovation and progress.

What we leave for our children and the future is vitally important. Examples:

Renovating the City’s project approval process: more streamlined and efficient approach to manage and implement new projects with speed, transparency and adaptability. We can have dynamic and innovative projects.

Creating housing  for  all is critical today and in the future. Opportunities to raise a family, live in peace,  and thrive in a safe healthy environment.

Supporting neighborhoods as the backbone of our City  through revitalization by improving parks, enhancing local business districts and ensuring our public service meets current and future community needs.

Rebuilding Cubberley for today and future generations will enhance its accessibility for all of us. Cubberley will continue to hold a special place in our community’s heart.

Palo Alto is full of smart, committed people who can figure out how to work together: move faster and get things done.  Together we can make a difference. Please join Anne’s Ambassadors.  I am asking for your support and vote in November.

With thanks,

Anne Cribbs
